ARTIST SPOTLIGHT — Samanta Erdini

Join us for a fun interview with Samanta Erdini who used her massive talent to bring to life a tiny Rescue Ranger.​

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us, Samanta. What’s a favorite detail you put into a card you designed?​
Samanta: In Mirabel Madrigal – Prophecy Finder, I hid my initials in some notes that she has next to her, but in the printed card it is difficult to notice them. ​

If you could visit one Disney location, which one would it be?​
Samanta: It would be Kuzco’s Palace from The Emperor's New Groove. Maybe with luck I'll meet Yzma and Kronk! ​

What Disney character are you most like?​
Samanta: I am a dreamer and I really like to do crafts. I think that Rapunzel's personality is the one I identify with the most. It is one of my favorite movies. When I met Glen Keane, he told me that I looked like her! It was very kind of him.

What’s your process for reinterpreting a classic character?​
Samanta: I like to look for references based on the artists who worked on their original design and what they were inspired by.​

If you can remember, what is the first Disney character you ever drew?​
Samanta: My first Disney drawing was a Mickey Mouse on the wall of my house, at the age of one and a half. ​
