Rise of the Floodborn Reveal: Alice – Growing Girl

Welcome, everyone! Richelle here to introduce the last of my Rise of the Floodborn card reveal blogs!

This week is a BIG one, Alice – Growing Girl! This Dreamborn version of the eponymous Alice in Wonderland is a great Legend Rarity card that opens up a new playstyle for Sapphire. Let’s take a look!

Alice – Growing Girl is a legend cost 3 character with the classifications Dreamborn and Hero. She can be inked, has 1 Strength and 4 Willpower, and can quest for 1 lore. She has two abilities. The first ability, Good Advice, reads “Your other characters gain Support. (Whenever they quest, you may add their Strength to another character’s Strength this turn.)” Her second ability, What Did I Do?, reads, “While this character has 10 Strength or more, she gets +4 lore.” This whimsical artwork was illustrated by Alice Pisoni.

So far, Support has been a tool for taking out larger threats, but at a certain point, no one is larger than this enormous girl. Since you’ll be able to Support with all of your characters (aside from Alice), as soon as you have 10 Strength in play across all of your characters, you can have them all Support Alice and have her quest for 5! Suddenly, Support becomes just as much about teamwork in questing as it is in challenges.

Characters like Stitch - Rockstar or Mickey Mouse – Wayward Sorcerer are already based around building a wide team of characters, so Alice – Growing Girl would offer them a new strategy. Alternatively, characters like Mad Hatter – Gracious Host who get rewards for being challenged become very powerful when given Support. Alice and the Mad Hatter together make one impressive tea party!

Strategic usage of characters with the keywords Evasive or Bodyguard could work great with Alice. Use Evasive to build up a board that your opponent will have trouble banishing, or Bodyguard characters to protect Alice as they continually Support her!
