Like Taffyta Muttonfudge, wave hello to one of the key members of our roster, Jihaui Eva Gao. Discover how she goes about transforming characters into something spectacular.
How do you go about studying the movement/posing/anatomy of a character before you start sketching?
Eva: I watch the movies several times and play the scenes featuring the character I need to illustrate on loop to try and nail their attitude and anatomy. I take tons of screenshots and study the art book if I have it.
Do you have a go-to Disney song or album you put on when you are drawing?
Eva: I have several! ”Listen With Your Heart” from Pocahontas, “Shiny” from Moana, “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan... And so many others!
What Disney story or character has inspired you the most?
Eva: It may not be original, but I love Mulan. It was so cool to see this classic tale reinterpreted as a kid. I also absolutely love Stitch. I think I prefer the adventurous and intrepid characters!
